Proposal#

The aim of this project is to show our ability to design an opening titles for the new James bond film called Skyfall.

We will be collaborating with others in the group and will be expected to demonstrate your ability to work in a professional graphic design team. The project is based on a real work experience brief. The clients will be visiting the lessons to discuss your progress and give feedback about your designs.

While working towards completion of the multi-media application we will also be given the chance to show our ability to work in a range of different skills with digital arts, including Photoshop, Movie Maker and Adobe Flash. We must appraise these applications for the role that they will perform for your project aims/objectives and research other software that may be more helpful for future consideration.

I will work from a client design brief and in your team are expected to take part in investigative research and activities which will assist you to express yourself creatively within a range of mixed media art techniques, experimental photography, graphics, collage, drawing, painting and print.


This initial project will be completed by working together in small design teams, evidence must be supplied to show your ability to work effectively as part of a team. Time-management skills and organizational skills will also be assessed by your tutor and through lessons centred on group/ self reflection and regular design team reviews. Apart from your team evidence you will also be expected to provide an individual design that you have worked on independently.
This Multi-Media Design Project based on the new film t ‘James Bond - Skyfall’
The theme for the opening credit sequence will be based on the traditional Bond style as originally
developed by Robert Brown John and will encompass a Retro-Pattern background with a running narrative.
The cities involved in the film are a contribution to your design theme - Istanbul, Shanghai,
Scotland, China, London and should be related to the content of the theme by the request of the client.

Iconic images related to Bond that you can use are any of the following, female form, Aston Martin, Watch
Face, Bond’s gun, union jack, passport crest, parachute, city skyline, retro silver plane, helicopter.
The plot of the film involves an attack on M by an agent she double crossed some years before, Bond’s
loyalty is tested to the limit when he realizes that the establishment that he works for has been infiltrated at
the highest level. Bond is offered a choice does he continue to work for a corrupt secret government bent on mass manipulation or does he join forces with the villain to defeat the system.
The short film will show how you can create a piece that portrays a clear visual language linked to the
essence of ‘Bond nostalgic magic’ and demonstrates your ability to be able to communicate through
narrative form using the language of art, photography, typography and graphic design.
